Über mich

Im Alter von zehn Jahren begann ich Trompete zu spielen und trat mit meinem zusammen Vater in eine örtliche Gemeindeband ein. Jazz mochte ich schon immer und ich hatte Platten von allen großen Musikern wie Harry James und Miles Davis.

Ich habe an der UNC Chapel Hill studiert und ging später auf das Berklee College of Music in Boston. Danach ging ich aus einer Laune heraus nach Paris und begann mit einer Straßenband namens „Lost Wandering Blues and Jazz Band“ zu spielen und reiste durch ganz Europa und die USA.

Ich spiele gerne alle wichtigen Jazzstile wie New Orleans, Swing, Big Band, Bebop, Blues und Modern Jazz. Auch Country und Gospel, das ist alles große Musik.

Mit meiner Hauptband, der „Papermoon Swing Combo“, spiele ich seit meiner Ankunft in Stuttgart im Jahr 2015 mit wunderbaren Musikern zusammen und entwickle ein großes Repertoire an Songs und Eigenkompositionen.

Ich spiele auch mit einigen anderen großartigen Ensembles im Stuttgarter Raum, wie den „Nonnos“, die sich auf traditionellen Jazz spezialisiert haben, und „Doc's Big Band“, und wenn es die Zeit erlaubt, spiele ich bei den Sessions in der „Kiste“, um neue Musiker in der Stuttgarter Szene kennenzulernen und zu hören. Außerdem biete ich Unterichtsstunden an.

About me...

I started playing trumpet at the age of ten and joined a local community band with my father. I always liked jazz and had records from all the greats like Harry James and Miles Davis.

I studied at UNC Chapel Hill and later went to the Berklee College of Music in Boston. After that I went to Paris on a whim and started playing with a street band called the Lost Wandering Blues and Jazz band and traveled all over Europe and the U.S.

I enjoy playing all the main styles of jazz. New Orleans, Swing, Big Band, Bebop, Blues and Modern jazz. Country and Gospel too, it's all one big music.

With my main band since coming to Stuttgart in 2015, the Papermoon Swing Combo, I'm playing with wonderful musicians and developing a vast repertoire of songs along with original compositions.

 I also play with some other fine ensembles in the Stuttgart area such as the Nonnos, who specialise in Traditional jazz and Doc's Big Band, and if time allows, I play at the sessions at the Kiste to meet and hear new musicians on the scene in Stuttgart. I also offer lessons.
